Bio: Like many of the other apostles, Elder Ronald A. Rasband served a mission (Eastern States Mission) and later returned to that same area to serve as president of the mission in that area (New York New York North Mission). While serving as mission president, Elder Rasband created an initiative to have the missionaries serve as volunteers at Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

In other church service, Elder Rasband served as a counselor in the Europe Central Area Presidency and executive director of the Temple Department.

Elder Rasband attended the University of Utah but did not graduate. In 1995, Utah Valley University awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Business and Commerce. Rasband started his career as a sales representative with Huntsman Container Company and made his way up to President and Chief Operating Officer of Huntsman Chemical Corporation where he remained until his call to serve as mission president.

Elder Rasband and his wife, Melanie Twitchell, are the parents of five children.
