Bio: Gary Evan Stevenson was born and raised in Utah. As a young man he served a full time mission in Japan. After his service as a missionary he completed his business administration degree at Utah State University where he met his wife Lesa Jean Higley. They were married in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple.

Elder Stevenson has served is a variety of capacities with his church service. He has served as a bishop, counselor in a stake presidency and president of the Japan Nagoya mission. In April 2008 Stevenson was called to be a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and served as a counselor and president of the Church’s Asia North Area. In 2012 Elder Stevenson was released and sustained as the Church’s Presiding Bishop. He remained in that calling until he was called to the Quorum of the Twelve in October 2015.

In Elder Stevenson’s professional life he co-founded and worked as the Chief Operating Officer of ICON Health and Fitness. He has also served on various councils and boards related to college business programs.

He and his wife Lesa, are the parents of four sons.
